I'm guessing he had something similar to aspergers. The shadow man he kept seeing, was simply a figment of his imagination. Even before he was arrested and taken to the penal planet, he was haveing mental episodes. Mowing down a bunch of guys with pickaxes with fluttery music isnt exactly my idea of a good time Theres no tension, and every time i think of it, i just kinda have a resounding "meh". Last, by the time in the game that i got to some fluttery, adventure movie music and met Buckle and some other old woman, I knew i couldn't take the rest of the game seriously. Then you're shooting normal guns with normal bullets basically But in reality are just zombies that have pick axes. Within that section, and the rest of the game, you're facing what apparently are necromorphs. I cringed so hard that its lasted with me ever since Some corny introduction with some generic military member trying to save some device, and the general kills him in some over the top cliche B movie way. The first signs are seen in the very person gameplay section. What i did play, wasnt at all bad, it just wasnt anything that was any kind of fun or thrill. Now i especially can't draw any motivation to go back And the time I recently did, i played maybe like an hour and a half. I honestly cant find any motivation to go to it and continue playing.
